Long-Term Care Ombudsman
A Long-Term Care Ombudsman is an independent advocate who works to protect and promote the rights, dignity, and quality of life of individuals receiving long-term care services.
Ombudsmen work with residents and their families to address questions or concerns about care, services, resident rights, and quality of life. Their role is to listen to the resident, explain available options, and help resolve concerns based on the resident’s wishes.
An ombudsman can:

Listen to questions and concerns about care or services.

Protect and advocate for residents’ rights.

Respect the resident’s choices and preferences.

Help investigate and resolve complaints or concerns.

Explain available options and resources.
-
Provide information about long-term care services and resident rights.

Support resident and family councils.

Advocate for improvements in the quality of care and quality of life for long-term care residents.
Long-Term Care Ombudsman services are confidential and provided at no charge to residents or their families.
