PRN Respiratory Therapists (CRT and RRT)

Shift: 

Varied, nights and weekends required. 

Compensation: 

Competitive experience-based pay scale. Second and Third Shift differentials of 10% and 12%. Annual Merit-based pay raises. 

Position Summary: 

The RCS Dept. is seeking highly skilled, compassionate, dependable Respiratory Therapists to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The PRN therapist will work on an as-needed basis to provide advanced respiratory care to patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary deficiencies, collaborating closely with physicians and nurses to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Jane Todd Crawford Hospital is a 25-bed critical access facility with a 5 bed Emergency Room Department that is dedicated to providing high-quality care to our community. We offer a work environment that values clinical excellence, teamwork, and job satisfaction. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and recommend appropriate therapy modalities using the approved RT Protocols.

  • Administration of prescribed respiratory treatments, pharmacological agents, and therapies such as O2 therapy, neb treatments, etc. 

  • Initiate, manage, and adjust mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive) and other life support equipment.

  • Perform diagnostic tests, including ABG analysis, and interpret results promptly. 

  • Ability to effectively respond to hospital emergencies including Code Blue and Rapid Responses, performing airway management and CPR when needed. 

  • Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions and disease management. 

  • Ability to maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation within the electronic medical record (EHR) system.

  • Ability to ensure all respiratory equipment is properly functioning, cleaned, and maintained according to safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy Program (Associate Degree).

  • Experience: 1-2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience in the acute or critical care setting preferred.

  • Licensure: Current Kentucky State RCP license and in good standing with current licensure from the NBRC (if applicable).

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • SKILLS: Strong critical thinking, excellent communication skills, ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, adaptability to changing patient needs and workflows. 

Work Hours:

  • Schedule: This is a PRN position with no guaranteed minimum hours; Shifts will be offered based on departmental needs.
